Spring clean your website | Bitlab

Spring clean your website

by Esther Tyreman / Website Design

Spring is the season for new beginnings and refreshing and organising your home and personal life, the season of the spring clean. A spring clean on your website can do wonders for your business, so how can you ensure that your site is ready for the year ahead and still offers a valuable customer experience? The team at Bitlab wanted to share some tips.

Reassess your content

Firstly, you should fact check your content. Make sure that team profiles are both correct and up-to-date, your range of products and services are correct, with updated pricing information. Not only should you check company information but check that your blogs and resources are still relevant.

Your content should still be appropriate to your audience. If your target customer evolves so too should your content. Does your audience face new issues or have new questions that need answers? Your site should help them to find solutions; if it doesn’t then your clients will go elsewhere.

Are you standing out?

It’s not only your content that needs reviving but your websites design can also benefit from a spring clean. Website design trends are constantly evolving, as are your customers’ likes and dislikes. Whilst constantly changing your websites design and theme can be detrimental to your SEO ranking, it is important to stay current and appeal to your audience.

Are you secure enough?

Unfortunately, the advancement of technology isn’t always beneficial. There is a rise in hacking and the techniques that hackers can use to breach your site are becoming more specialised. Review your passwords and their strengths, your back-up options and schedule and ensure that your level of protection is suitable for your requirements. Make sure that you are using the most recent version of software so that any bug fixes for older versions are installed.

Be responsive

Being mobile-friendly is now a huge contributing factor for your ranking position with Google that is why you should ensure that your website is designed to be as responsive as possible. Use a range of devices and browsers to view your site and look at your sites menus, navigational tools and pictures to make sure that they appear correctly across all platforms.

At Bitlab, we understand that there are a lot of elements that contribute to a successful “spring clean”, from content review and information update, to security and software updates and websites design. We have the expertise to help you build and maintain a website that is fit for purpose.
