Optimise your customer experience for a more successful website

Websites are now a huge part of a brands identity, a potential customer will judge your company based on your website, and we have all experienced a website that is poorly designed, unresponsive and just plain boring.

Customers will soon get bored of the same marketing campaigns and stagnant content. Take the time to refresh and revive your website to keep it exciting and focused on customer experience and you will see a huge impact on the generation and conversions that you receive.

While it is easier than ever to get your website up and running it is much more difficult to capture your audience’s attention. The world of digital is constantly evolving and you need to evolve so you don’t get left behind and refreshing your site is a small part of staying current.

Remember your keywords

Think about the most basic way of describing your business; is it quality handmade fabric, antique furniture or affordable removals? Whatever it may be, this basic description of your business will most likely define your customers search query. It used to be that filling your website content with keywords and phrases meant that you started to rank well on search engines but not only is this method ineffective it is frowned upon too. Refreshing your site means that you can take a more in-depth look at every page on your site. Consider more appropriate keywords, phrases and their variations to make the site appear less like spam and more like valuable information.

Responsive design

Not only do you need to take a look at the content on your site, but you should refresh the design too. Create a persona for your target audience and design something that would appeal to them. The best place to start is layout and colour scheme, these are relatively simple factors to change but can make a dramatic difference to your customer experience.

The next thing you should consider updating is the “scan-ability” of your content. Most people that visit your site are looking for something specific, if it’s easy to find then they will most likely return. Consider using subtitles, bullet points, simple navigation and any other tool that makes your content easier to digest.

Show them what you can do

Make it clear from the outset how you can help your customer and what you are offering them. If a customer cannot see and “About us” page, section or just a few lines about your company then they will undoubtedly leave your site. Make it obvious how you can help and don’t be afraid to sell yourself; if you are not confident in your product/service then your customer won’t be either.

Revive your content

Are your ideas unique and creative? If not, this is a great opportunity to change that. Make your content more valuable and relevant to your audience. If your industry has a lot of FAQ’s that your audience may want to know the answers to then think about running a live Q and A session or run regular “How to” blog posts. Monitor the changes that you make and the impact it has on your site, that way you can see what works and what doesn’t.
