Give a boost to your referral traffic

by Esther Tyreman / Website Design

Referral traffic is the term used to describe all of your website visitors that arrive from any source other than Google. Referral traffic is important for your business but few companies actually manage to generate lots of high-quality, referral traffic, so what can you do to entice visitors to click through to your website?

Q&A Forums

Question and Answer forums are a great source of referral traffic. Search for topics, search phrases and categories that are relevant to your business. Answer questions that have a lot of views or followers but not many answers, this will identify you as an expert in the field. Include a couple of links to your site within your answer to drive quality traffic to your website.

Influencer and video marketing

Video can be a powerful tool, it is easy to watch and easy to share. Watchers can absorb information much more easily compared to reading long, wordy articles.  Use a storytelling format to connect with your audience.

Influencer marketing can be valuable to your business as influencers have a ready-made audience. Choose an influencer who associates with your industry, no point having a fashion influencer talk about your web design services! Work with influencers that have high post engagements- post likes, shares and comments, improving the likelihood of more people seeing/hearing about your product or services.

Social media

Both other businesses and your customers are flocking to social media to interact with your brand. Share your content on social media to increase the chances of it being read, your content will (hopefully) be shared with like-minded individuals, who will then share it further. As you can imagine, your reach can improve drastically in the space of a few hours.

While it is important to share your content, make sure that what you are sharing is of value to your readers, you don’t want to become too “spammy.”

Don’t be afraid to share a piece of content more than once. Not everyone will see your content the first time so share it at a different time on a different day, post your content at different times of the day and monitor which times get the most interaction. Use hashtags to join in on trending topics and start a conversation with your followers. You can even pay for advertising to promote your business locally or increase brand awareness.

Types of content

Don’t get lulled into a false sense of security, keep your content fresh by using different types. Infographics are great to share, with snippets of information that your readers will find interesting. Customer case studies and testimonials help to build trust and brand loyalty. Experiment with different types of content to see what your followers enjoy reading and interacting with. Keep in mind your target audience and what they want to see/read.

Get reviews

Having your business published on a review site is a sure-fire way to generate more traffic. Review sites can help customers at any stage of their purchasing journey and can be the deciding factor to choose your company over your competition. Don’t just rely on review sites either, make sure that your customers are leaving great reviews on your social media, and if they do not then resolve their issue quickly and to their satisfaction.

At Bitlab, we take the time to get to know you and understand your customers. This allows us to create content that your clients will want to read and want to share.
