Can a blog help your business?

by Esther Tyreman / Content Writing

As a business you are constantly looking for new ways to improve brand awareness and customer interaction. One of the simplest ways to do this is by blogging. Publishing informative, interesting articles can be hugely beneficial to your business.

A regular blog can help your business to attract more traffic, convert customers and engage current customers. The more frequently you blog, the more often people will return to your site. The more people that you have visiting your site, the greater chance you have of converting a customer. Ensure that your blog topics are relevant to your target audience; it could be anything from latest company news to answering commonly asked questions. Whatever your blog topic may be, make sure that the headline you choose accurately reflects the content.

Consider how most customers complete their journeys, it usually includes a Google (or other search engine) search to try and resolve a problem, or questions that they have. If they come across an informative, helpful blog post then it could be enough to complete a purchase with you. A blog can make you seem knowledgeable on your industry and inspire confidence in your expertise. Every blog post should inspire some sort of action, be it to read another blog post, download a piece of information, fill in a contact form or subscribe to a newsletter.

Some businesses will post blogs that are designed to satisfy people’s needs, for example legal or tax-related blogs. These posts instantly provide the reader with an answer to their question. The alternative is to post want-based blogs, these articles focus on building demand for something that is thought of as a luxury or non-essential, like clothing or beauty products. By creating interesting and engaging content that people want to read for pleasure, over time you can establish a connection with your customers, helping to improve brand loyalty.

A blog can be a good way to exhibit a portfolio of work, some businesses that work in design need to prove their past experience and customers will look for something on your website to showcase this, if you don’t have it then it can make you look inexperienced. Another benefit of having a blog is that they will continue to work for you long after you have written them. Commonly asked questions are asked regularly, every week, month or year, if you have a blog that answers these questions then you will continue to generate traffic all year round.
